K-Recruiting in the Wirtschafts-Woche: When Collaboration Accelerates Innovation
The latest article in WirtschaftsWoche highlights developments surrounding BioNTech and CureVac – two companies that were long considered competitors and are now working together on the future of mRNA technology. We are particularly pleased that K-Recruiting is also mentioned as a partner in this context.

WirtschaftsWoche, March 24, 2026, https://www.wiwo.de/unternehmen/industrie/biotechunternehmen-ausgerechnet-der-fruehere-gegner-curevac-soll-biontech-jetzt-helfen/100209966.html, by Jürgen Salz.

From Competition to Collaboration

For many years, BioNTech and CureVac were direct competitors. Both companies worked intensively on mRNA technologies and competed particularly during the development of the COVID-19 vaccines. While BioNTech was successful with its vaccine, CureVac failed to meet expectations.

Today, the relationship has fundamentally changed: Following a period of legal disputes over patents, BioNTech acquired its former competitor. In doing so, BioNTech secured valuable expertise and patents that could play a key role in future mRNA-based therapies – such as in cancer treatment.

This development impressively demonstrates how competition can transform into strategic collaboration when the focus is on shared goals.

External Expertise as a Key Success Factor

According to WirtschaftsWoche, a key difference between the two companies has long been their openness to external expertise. While BioNTech specifically brought in external specialists, CureVac relied more heavily on internal structures.

This is exactly where K-Recruiting came into play: During the intensive phase of vaccine development, we supported BioNTech with over 40 highly qualified specialists from our international network. These experts had many years of experience in areas such as clinical development, supply chain management, and drug safety.

This example illustrates the difference that the targeted use of external specialists can make – especially in projects with tight deadlines and significant societal impact.

Innovation Comes from Openness

The story of BioNTech and CureVac shows how important it is to be open to new perspectives and external expertise. Innovation rarely happens in isolation – it arises where knowledge is pooled and experiences are shared.

For companies in the life sciences industry, this means that access to experienced specialists is a decisive competitive advantage. Especially during dynamic project phases, collaboration with external experts can significantly increase the speed and quality of developments.

At K-Recruiting, we see ourselves as a partner precisely in this area: when it comes to quickly finding the right talent and strengthening projects with expertise.
