CAPEX Procurement Category Buyer – Laboratory Equipment
Role Overview:
The CAPEX Procurement Category Buyer for Laboratory Equipment leads sourcing activities for lab‑related capital investments. The role ensures strong alignment between Lonza’s project needs and the supply market, driving cost optimization, supplier performance, and risk mitigation. Acting as a strategic partner to engineering and project teams, this position contributes directly to operational excellence and successful project delivery.
Tasks:
Lead RFx processes and vendor selection for CAPEX lab equipment.
Develop and implement category strategies aligned with business and engineering needs.
Build strong internal relationships to understand short‑ and long‑term requirements.
Drive cost‑reduction initiatives and value‑engineering opportunities.
Manage supplier relationships, performance, and development (SRM).
Oversee risk management and implement mitigation plans.
Negotiate commercial terms, equipment purchase agreements, and framework contracts.
Ensure category strategies are effectively executed across CAPEX projects.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree; technical understanding of laboratory or process equipment required.
5+ years in procurement, including global or regional category management.
Experience in regulated industries (pharma, food, cosmetics) preferred.
Proven track record in sourcing strategy development and execution.
CAPEX/lab equipment experience strongly preferred.
English fluency required; German or French is a strong plus.
CIPS certification is an advantage.
