Interim Head of Workplace (M/W/D)
Tasks:
1. Leadership, Coordination & Advisory
Provide leadership and coordination for a globally distributed Workplace function (approx. 11 team members across multiple regions and time zones).
Define and align roles, responsibilities, deliverables, and ways of working across the team.
Guide the ongoing transformation of the Workplace function, including capability development, process clarity, and accountability structures.
Promote a collaborative, transparent, and outcome-driven way of working across Workplace and Infrastructure domains.
Act as a senior escalation point for complex topics related to workplace, identity, endpoint, access management, and collaboration services.
Support organizational and technical change initiatives by providing structure, guidance, and best practices.
2. Workplace Architecture & Technical Ownership
Provide architectural guidance and hands-on expertise across core workplace technologies, including:
Active Directory Architecture: Domain/forest design, GPO strategy, OU structure, delegation models, replication, and security hardening.
Microsoft Entra ID / Hybrid Identity: Hybrid identity setup, synchronization, Conditional Access, MFA, identity protection, and cloud/on-prem integration.
PKI Infrastructure: Certificate authority architecture, lifecycle management, governance, and integration into workplace/security services.
Remote Desktop Services / Terminal Services: Architecture, performance optimization, access control, and modernization strategies.
Microsoft 365 Services: Governance and administration of Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and collaboration platforms.
Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Management: Device lifecycle, compliance, configuration, application deployment, patching, and endpoint security.
Identity & Access Management: Role-based access, least privilege models, lifecycle processes (joiner/mover/leaver), and governance workflows.
3. Operations & Service Delivery Optimization
Ensure stable and secure operation of workplace services with focus on availability, performance, and user experience.
Assess, design, and optimize operational processes (incident, request, change, problem, access, knowledge management).
Define and implement KPIs, SLAs, and service performance metrics.
Establish and improve documentation standards, operational procedures, and knowledge management practices.
Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
Increase transparency across workload, risks, priorities, and service performance.
4. Security, Compliance & Governance
Ensure workplace services align with security standards, audit requirements, and industry best practices.
Collaborate with Information Security stakeholders on identity protection, endpoint security, and access governance.
Support implementation of ISO 27001-aligned controls and documentation where required.
Identify and mitigate risks related to legacy systems, technical debt, and misconfigurations.
Strengthen security posture across identity, endpoint, and collaboration services while ensuring auditability and traceability.
5. Transformation & Continuous Improvement
Drive the evolution of the Workplace function toward a proactive, standardized, and service-oriented operating model.
Identify gaps in services, processes, and technology, and define improvement initiatives.
Support the transition from legacy infrastructure to modern cloud and hybrid workplace solutions.
Promote automation, self-service capabilities, and modern endpoint management practices.
Establish clear ownership models for services, platforms, and processes.
Encourage knowledge sharing, documentation discipline, and cross-functional collaboration.
6. Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration
Act as a key interface between IT, business stakeholders, and regional teams to ensure workplace services support business needs.
Translate business requirements into scalable and standardized workplace solutions.
Balance global standards with local regulatory and operational requirements.
Provide transparency on roadmap, risks, and service performance to stakeholders.
Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and technology partners where required.
Contribute to infrastructure and transformation initiatives with technical expertise and strategic input.
Support planning activities such as budgeting, licensing, and roadmap definition from a technical perspective.
Qualification:
Technical Expertise
Strong architectural understanding of Microsoft-based workplace, identity, endpoint, and collaboration environments.
Ability to assess complex IT landscapes and define pragmatic, scalable target architectures.
Deep knowledge of hybrid identity, endpoint security, authentication, access control, and compliance frameworks.
Capability to translate technical and business requirements into secure, maintainable, and scalable workplace solutions.
Strong analytical skills, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and structured problem resolution.
Experience in identifying and implementing automation, standardization, monitoring, and operational improvements.
Solid understanding of security-by-design principles, least privilege models, identity lifecycle management, and governance frameworks.
Delivery & Coordination Capabilities
Ability to guide and enable distributed technical teams in a functional or advisory capacity (without direct line management responsibility).
Strong decision-making and prioritization skills in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
Experience supporting technical and operational transformation initiatives.
Ability to introduce structure, clarity, and accountability in delivery models and processes.
Skilled in aligning stakeholders, facilitating decision-making, and resolving conflicts constructively.
Comfortable operating within global, matrixed, and cross-functional environments.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Clear, structured, and professional communication style across technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-relevant insights and recommendations.
Strong documentation and presentation capabilities.
Experience collaborating with business units, regional teams, IT functions, security stakeholders, and external partners.
Service-oriented mindset with the ability to balance business priorities, security requirements, and operational feasibility.
Fluent in English; additional languages are beneficial.
